LSu's standout: Angel Reese
Angel Reese, a standout player for the LSU women's basketball team, has been turning heads all season with her impressive skills on the court. Reese, a 6-foot-3 forward from Baltimore, Maryland, has been dominant for the No.5 LSU Tigers this season. She has averaged 23.7 points, 16 rebounds, 1.5 blocks per game, leading her team to an impressive 27-1 record this season.
However, Reese continues to face tough competition for the SEC player of the year. The competition including South Carolina's Aliyah Boston, who has proven to be a repeated, dominant force in the SEC all season.
Despite these challenges, Reese’s competitive edge continues to shine as she remains determined to prove herself as the best player in the SEC. “I feel like what separates me from a lot of players, is that I have that dog mentality and I always want to go out there and win and I’m very passionate about that,” Reese said (via the New York Times).
Reese's “dog mentality” and hard work have already earned her numerous accolades this season, including, seven SEC player of the week awards, and a nomination for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, which is awarded annually to the best defensive player.
But for Reese, the ultimate goal is to bring a championship to LSU. "Individual awards are great, but I'm really focused on helping my team win," she said (via the New York Times). "We have a lot of talented players on this team, and I believe we have what it takes to win it all."
With Reese leading the way, LSU is poised to make a deep run in the SEC tournament and even the NCAA tournament. And if Reese can continue her dominant play, there's a good chance she could be named SEC player of the year – a well-deserved honor for one of the most dominant players in the game.
