embracing a 'new voice': changes on the way for The Cowboys after Kellen Moore Departure

In a closed-door meeting with the team's front office, head coach Mike McCarthy made the difficult decision to let Kellen Moore go. The news quickly spread throughout the organization, and players were left stunned by the sudden move.

Moore had been with the Dallas Cowboys for three seasons, serving as the team's quarterbacks coach before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019. During his time in Dallas, he had helped develop Prescott into one of the league's top quarterbacks and had overseen one of the NFL's most potent offenses.

Despite Moore's success, however, the Cowboys had struggled to live up to expectations in recent seasons, failing to advance past the first round of playoffs. With the team struggling to make any new progress, McCarthy decided that it was time for a change.

"I think, number one, we all can use a new voice," McCarthy said, via NFL.com. "We're gonna build it off of what he [Moore] has established."

McCarthy then shared insight into the Moore departure, “Kellen wants to light the scoreboard up, but I want him to run the damn ball so I can rest my defense.” McCarthy said (via the Dallas Morning News).

McCarthy emphasized the importance of trimming potential turnovers and extending the time of possession. The Dallas Cowboys were 22nd in 2022 for time of possession (29:27), with their per-rush success in the bottom half of the NFL, ranking 18th in yards per carry (4.3).

Despite the recent changes surrounding the team's coaching staff, the Cowboys have remained focused on the task at hand: making a push for the championship. With a talented roster and a deep pool of offensive weapons, the team remains confident that they will make a deep run in the playoffs this upcoming season, even without Moore calling the shots.
